Ingredients

  • Stale bread
For the garlic bread chips
  • garlic
  • olive oil
  • salt
For the Thai-style bread chips
  • Red curry paste
  • olive oil
For the bread chips with herbs
  • Herbes de Provence dried
  • olive oil
  • salt
  • lemon peel

Method

  1. This recipe does not include quantities, as these depend on how much stale bread you have and use.
  2. Preheat the oven to 200°C top/bottom heat.
  3. Cut the bread into slices as thin as possible, preferably using a slicer. A thickness of 3 mm is ideal.
  4. For the garlic bread chips: Press the garlic and mix with olive oil. Leave to stand for a while so that the oil takes on the garlic flavour.
For the Thai curry bread chips: Mix the Thai curry paste with a little olive oil.
For the herb bread chips: Mix together the dried herbs, olive oil and lemon zest.
  5. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
  6. Coat the bread chips with the respective olive oil mixture. Add a little salt to the garlic and herb bread chips.
  7. Bake the bread chips in the oven on the lower to middle shelf for 15 to 20 minutes. They should not turn dark, but should be completely dry.
