I confess: breakfast and brunch are my absolute favourite meals. I loooove a hearty breakfast, especially when lots of friends are sitting at the table with me. There's absolutely nothing in the world better than the combination of friends + fun + love + breakfast.
In my circle of friends, I'm usually the one who organises breakfast or brunch get-togethers. And that suits me fine, because it gives me the chance to try out new things. My motto is: every breakfast must have a highlight! And if that highlight is brightly coloured and packed with vitamins, so much the better. Bring on the cool smoothie bowl!

What exactly is a smoothie bowl?
Well, sometimes you just have to explain these newfangled things. A smoothie bowl is a large smoothie in a cereal bowl topped with various ingredients such as muesli, nuts, coconut flakes, chocolate flakes, seeds, fruit and so on and so forth. There are no limits to your imagination, the main thing is that it's colourful!
There's just one thing to keep in mind: a smoothie bowl would only be half as cool if the topping wasn't perfectly arranged. It's worth putting a little effort into this. After all, you eat with your eyes first, and a bowl topped with love beats an undecorated one hands down!



As a loving big sister, I tried to do something nice for my brother and his wife. So I arranged the smoothie bowls on a bed tray and took them to their bedroom. Breakfast in bed is great, especially when you don't have to make it yourself!
It didn't work out, by the way, I was too late. They were already dressed and on their way to the kitchen for coffee. But that's okay, at least I got a photo of the bowls on my beautiful wooden bed tray (which was a gift from a dear friend).

- Blend all ingredients for the smoothie in a blender until smooth. Dilute with more coconut milk, orange juice or water as needed.
- Divide the smoothie between breakfast bowls. Carefully top with the toppings.
