Today I'm being modest! But if it's the truth, then it's not showing off, right? 😉 Please try my brownie recipe, I promise you: they are the best brownies in the world! They may not be the prettiest, but they are the moistest and most absolutely amazing chocolate slices ever and always. ❤
Be my Valentine!
How much do you love Valentine's Day? I don't. Okay, you can accuse me of only saying that because I'm currently single. But no, I don't feel that way even when I'm in a relationship. Men, please bring me flowers when you're thinking of me. Just because. And not on the day when florists are doing a roaring trade. Of course, I don't generally reject gifts on this day (my rejection doesn't go that far), but I really don't care.
BUT: I love making the best brownies in the world anyway, and I do it often because they're super easy to make. So why not on Valentine's Day? It's just a coincidence that I'm baking on 14 February, right? And everyone always loves heart-shaped brownies. Even in summer or on national holidays. They're always a hit and pretty romantic. Admittedly, your partner's stomach won't really care. But maybe for your BFF's birthday? For your grandmother's 70th?
After all, ‘Thank you for being there’ works in every situation in life.
Dear friends, forgive me for being so unromantic. On Valentine's Day, please serve your loved ones the best brownies in the world, no matter what shape they are. Whether they're hearts, stars or llamas (did I mention that I have an ultra-cool llama cookie cutter?). Love is in the air after eating the best brownies.

I have another argument in favour of this: it's a foolproof recipe. Ready in no time, only a few ingredients (don't leave out the rum!) and no stumbling blocks. So it's not one of those recipes where someone tells you ‘It's soooo easy’ and then you have to caramelise and grate hazelnuts or roll out strudel dough all over the dining table. No, really. The best brownies in the world are also the simplest brownies in the world.
The secret lies in the ingredients
The best brownies in the world are only as good as the ingredients you use.
I'm not talking about the butter and eggs. Please use organic butter and organic eggs; that should just be standard practice. But if you don't, it's only your conscience that will suffer, not the brownies.
But: cooking chocolate. If you use cooking chocolate, then only the really high-quality stuff. In Austria, that is exclusively and without exception Manner. And that's definitely not because of patriotism, but because of the bare facts. You could of course also use good dark chocolate, but I've never tried that.
And then, of course, the rum. Please don't leave out the rum. It just adds that certain something! (Did I mention that this isn't a recipe collection for children? 😉 But mums who bake know how to substitute alcohol in recipes anyway.)
One tip is to add well-drained, pickled cherries to the brownie batter before putting it in the oven. It tastes really good too; I've made this variation many times.
Another good idea: sprinkle almond flakes on top before baking. Then you don't need icing sugar afterwards, it looks pretty and tastes really good too.
Whether you're romantic or not, I wish you all a wonderful Valentine's Day, my dears. If you're in love, enjoy it together, and if you're single, treat yourself to a little gift. Self-love moment! 💕 And enjoy the best brownies in the world, then you'll love me too, even if from afar! 😉

Method
- Preheat the oven to 170°C top/bottom heat. Line the baking tray with baking paper.
- Mix the butter and sugar well. Slowly add the eggs one at a time. The mixture should become light and creamy. Stir in the rum.
- In the meantime, melt the chocolate in the microwave or over a bain-marie.
- Stir the melted chocolate into the batter.
- Fold in the flour. Only until there are no more lumps of flour.
- Pour the batter onto the baking tray and spread it out. Bake in the oven for 16 to 20 minutes.A skewer test is not necessary, the dough should remain moist! So it is better to bake it for a little too short a time than too long.
- Allow to cool and cut into squares or cut out decorative shapes using a large cookie cutter.
